• Sources. Carrier cure windows, knee rules, and carve-outs for the ASPCA family, Embrace, AKC, Trupanion, Odie, and Pets Best were read against binding policy-form language as audited in the WhiskerCover Fine-Print Index (documents as of July 1, 2026) and cross-checked against carrier materials. NAPHIA market figures are from the 2026 State of the Industry Report (released June 24, 2026).
• Flagged unverified at launch (printed on the pages, not hidden): the cure-pathway cells for Nationwide, Figo, Healthy Paws, Fetch, MetLife, and ManyPets have not yet been read from current binding forms; the checker returns "unverified" for them. Per-carrier orthopedic waiting periods are unverified except Nationwide's 12-month cruciate wait. These cells upgrade in the quarterly re-audit as forms are read.
• AKC state variance. AKC's pre-existing-condition provision is absent from its Florida form. Every AKC mention on this site — including inside the checker — carries the variance.
• The dismissed lawsuit is not used. A Massachusetts case against Nationwide over the non-renewals was dismissed in November 2025; allegations are not findings. This site reports the non-renewals as the factual history they are and draws no scandal from them.
• Review-site numbers are not printed as fact. A widely repeated anecdote about a specific surgery payment traces to a review site without a primary document; it appears nowhere here. The structural fact (some Nationwide plans pay a benefit schedule) is printed without borrowed numbers.
• Re-audit cadence. Forms revise annually and state law can override them (Florida's statute already caps waiting periods). The dataset is re-audited quarterly; the next pass is January 2027. Corrections from readers: help@doogex.com.
